Urban School Experience Reflection
Description
After visiting one urban elementary school and one urban middle school, this reflection was written. It demonstrates three key ideas/characteristics/concepts that emerge as important to academic success and learning in urban schools. I discuss how and where I saw these ideas, characteristics, and/or concepts in place at the different schools and how they impacted learning in the classrooms I visited. As a conclusion, I reflected on my own preparedness at this point to teach in an urban school at a specific grade level (i.e. primary, intermediate, middle, high school). I explain what would appeal to me about the work, if I were hired to work in a high needs classroom. Finally, I addressed what further experiences and/or coursework I would need.
